The jury of the 9a Semana Film Festival select five highlights among the features, shorts and medium-length films in competition. Two awards are set – Best Film and the Special Jury Prize, which have to be designated to works in different formats (one feature and one short or medium length). Three other awards will be given by the jury according to their assessment, which may highlight technical or aesthetic aspects that stand out in the set of works presented.

Winners will be awarded the trophy-images by artist Clara Moreira.

For the first time, CINEBRASILTV will offer an Acquisition Award of R$ 4 thousand to shorts films and R$ 15 thousand to features films. At least one film will be awarded.

“IndieLisboa is an international film festival held annually in Lisbon since 2004. It features films from all genres and formats. Its program includes films by national and foreign directors, whose selection is based on originality, quality and relevance. These films reach the general public and the industry professionals for the first time through the festival, which takes place in several Lisbon cultural centers, promoting urban dynamics of these cultural centers, that is, circulation of people and appropriation of the city. These have been the cause of the audience growth and diversification since its first edition”. In this fifth year as a partner of Semana, IndieLisboa will screen one of the competing feature films, selected by its curatorial staff.

A few years ago, the Week has began an exchange with curators and international festivals, making available to them the links of the films in our programming, obviously with the prior agreement of directors and producers.

The first intention of this action is to collaborate with the films, to contribute to their international circulation, while promoting a closer relationship of the Week with festivals from various corners of the world.

The list of festivals and curators is renewed every year, according to existing partners and with newcommers interested in the rigorous selection of Brazilian films, some more, others less known, which we strive to offer in each edition. Last year we had the participation of curators from festivals like Rotterdam, Oberhausen, Cinemá du Réel, CPH: DOX, BAFICE and Cartagena.

For this year, besides the curators who receive our links, – a constantly expanding list, we also have the confirmation of two festivals; IndieLisboa and the International Film Festival of Uruguay; besides the Mexican Theatre/ distributor Cine Tonalá; who have comitted in advance to our choice of films for their schedules.

This is a small action, with which we hope to contribute to great flights of Brazilian films.
